Using Starlink abroad

By Roaming Dish Editors. Updated October 23, 2026. How we work these numbers out

Roam Unlimited generally covers up to 30 days outside your home country, with eligible US/Canada and European grouped-region exceptions. Complete required Travel Registration before departure. Roam 100GB and 300GB stay inside your home country or region.

Out 28 W 31 hours left Power station, 1,070 Wh 1,070 Wh rated, about 963 Wh usable USB-C to barrel cable, 100 W about 31 W from the battery, 28 W at the dish Starlink Mini 28 W (25 to 40 W average)

1,070 Wh × 90% usable × 90% for USB-C ÷ 28 W = about 31 hours of browsing and music. The dish's draw is from its spec sheet. The two percentages are our estimates.

The rules

Roam Unlimited generally includes 30 days outside the registered home country. Eligible accounts traveling within the listed US/Canada territories or European group are exempt, but extended stays may require localization. Travel Registration is generally required outside the home country, except Enterprise. Starlink Help Center, Roam plans

Roam 50GB, 100GB and 300GB are for use in your home country or grouped region, which is the US and Canada, or Europe. Abroad you need Roam Unlimited or a Priority plan. Starlink Help Center, Roam plans

Specialized in-motion guidance lists more restricted countries, including Colombia, Costa Rica and Spain, than the general Roam page. Treat conflicting lists as uncertain and confirm local permission. Starlink specialized in-motion rules

Is it available there

Starlink publishes the status of every market in the data behind its coverage map. Our country pages read that file and show the date we checked it. Starlink availability data

Power and plugs

The Mini's own power supply takes 100 to 240 V at 50 or 60 Hz, so it works on mains anywhere with the right plug adapter. Japan's 100 V mains sits at the very bottom of that range. Over USB-C or 12 V from a power station, the local mains does not matter at all. Mini spec sheet

Before you leave

Check the country in Starlink's availability data, register the trip under Travel Registration, and confirm your plan is Roam Unlimited if you are leaving your home region. If you will be driving, check the specialized country-specific in-motion rules and resolve conflicting advice before use.

Pack a plug adapter for the Mini's mains supply, or plan to run the dish from a power station and skip the local mains altogether.

Longer than 30 days

Roam Unlimited covers up to 30 days outside your home country at a time. For longer stays, check the grouped-region exception or Global Business/account localization options. Local Priority currently allows up to 60 international days; the 30-day Business change takes effect December 1, 2026. See Starlink’s current travel rules.
